Laughter upon laughter upon laughter! That is what comes to mind when I relive Diana & Robert's delightful wedding day at the always glorious Monte Verde Inn. These two couldn't be more laid back...excited to celebrate their love with their most beloved family and friends! Of course I always love the opportunity to shoot at one of my all time favorites venues, Monte Verde Inn...

Early in their relationship, Jessica made it known that if the goal wasn't marriage and children then there was no point in dating (and by the way I love a girl who knows what her goals are!)---Jeremy didn't shy away from the challenge, but instead embraced it, thinking in terms of a great 5 year plan. Well, he surprised himself (and Jessica) when just over a year into dating, he was...

When one sits down to count their blessings, family is most assuredly at the very top of that list. I especially know it is for Stephanie and Paul too. When planning their wedding, these two wanted nothing more than an easy-going, kid friendly, Sunday afternoon soiree. They wanted the event to be relaxed, beautiful and for everyone (no matter what age) to not only feel included...

Oh my gosh, it is hard to believe that the day before this wedding was set to take place at the breathtaking Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, there was a blizzard! Like a legit...white out...freeways closed...dumping tons of fresh snow...blizzard! But it was! I was following the weather and my bride and grooms social media accounts that whole day and the rehearsal took...

Ok. So first thing first. I have a confession. I am NOT a gear junkie. There I said it. I am not a photographer who always feels like I need a new gadget or gizmo. I love the gear I have procured--gear that empowers me to produce an incredibly high level of quality for my clients, while having superior functionality, and "non-techy" user friendliness. To be 100% real---I don't really have any major items on my wish list at the moment.
But, I have gone through a lot of trial and error (like the first camera I ever bought NOT being full frame, ugh--a total waste of money), lots of equipment rental and personal hands on research, to develop a streamlined collection of "I can not live (or work) withouts!" First...let's dig into the "non" lens side of my beloved gear...and honestly, brace yourself for the most non technological review ever. I'm just gonna speak from the heart.
And now...for the REALLY fun part and the part I know you have been waiting for....time to talk LENSES!!!! Just about all of my lenses are “prime” lenses. Prime lenses are lenses that are stationary at a certain focal length. They do not zoom in and out on their own---I am the zoom by either walking closer to my subject or backing up. Prime lenses are preferred because, unlike three "zooming" counterparts, they produce images that are much more tact sharp with fewer visual defects. This fact has made me absolutely fall head over heels for them--although they weren't love at first sight that's for sure. They took some getting used to after years of loving my 24-70---and as you'll see I still have one "zooming" lens that is a major part of my repertoire.
I purchase much of my gear online from Amazon (cause HELLO Prime Shipping, I totally LOVE you!) and at a local camera store in the Roseville area, Action Camera. Gear that I adore, but is not pictured...
- Hold Fast Money Maker Camera Strap - if you're a woman (or man with long hair) order WITHOUT the extra D rings (they pull your hair)

- Tamarac Jetty 7 Bag - perfect grab and go bag for hiking or travel
- Rechargeable Energizer Batteries - (soooooooo many of these--both AA and AAA!)
- B+W Lens Filter Covers - essential for protecting lenses from scratches and debris in various sizes
- Lens rarely used professionally, but versatile for personal use (and took all these photos) Nikkor 24-70, 2.8-Average Price Point $1800

To my 2015 MOMs ... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
To all the mamas who have cinched the dress, walked down the aisle, danced with your son, and given your daughter's hand--this post is especially for you. Than you for allowing me to be a part of documenting your child's milestone moments. Each and every one of you have inspired me and made me fall deeper in love with what I do for a living. Thank you and Happy Mother's Day!
Wedding | Amber & Brady
Location: Monte Verde Inn | Foresthill, California
A drizzly unwelcome rain cloud will sometimes crash a wedding and the whirlwind hustle to put "Plan B" into effect commences. Generally, this plan involves moving everything into a location that is not as aesthetically desirable, where the space is tight, the lighting flat (or nonexistent), and the bride and groom's wedding vision suddenly drowned out by the ongoing downpour.
But, Amber & Brady were the epitome of "grace under fire (or water as the case may be)" when the relentless April showers barged their way onto the guest list. My sweet bride & groom remained composed and weren't about to let some water falling from the sky ruin a single thing! They (and all of their guests) stayed focused on the TRUE meaning of the day----two extraordinary people devoting their lives to one another. ❤️ So, although the elbow room was cramped, the walkways shoulder to shoulder, and the noise level of celebration palpable--this wedding was MAGICAL!! When a groom is brought to tears toasting his bride---it doesn't matter how much rain is falling outside. I was thrilled to capture just a small fraction of the abundant love and joy overflowing from every nook and cranny of the always stunning Monte Verde Inn.
Congratulations Amber & Brady....you have already weathered your first storm together as man and wife and you couldn't have shone brighter through it all. God Bless you two! xo
